Arie Crown Hebrew Day School has been a cornerstone of Chicago’s Orthodox Jewish community since the 1950s. The school provides Judaic and secular education as a foundation to expand minds, instill values, and prepare future generations of the Jewish community.
The Main ID sign is a 5‘6” tall by 12’ wide illuminated monument sign with non-illuminated ⅜” thick aluminum address numbers down the left side. The sign has a dimensional bump out that wraps around the main cabinet which will be a common design element and takes some inspiration from the linear aspects of the once office-building, now school. This sign is mounted using ½” thick steel flange plates to a concrete base.
In addition to the 6′ tall “ACHDS” back-lit letters on the building, the 3’4” by 18’ Building ID monument sign sits directly in front of the school, and both serve as excellent identification and Wayfinding for new visitors. The monument design replicates the wrap-around design elements and colors of the Main ID sign, but in a more horizontal fashion. This non-illuminated sign is the centerpiece of the school’s exterior drive-up.
These signs share donor appreciation at multiple locations, including:
These 2’9” tall by 2’7” high signs have a similar offset as the wrap-around style, but in a value-engineered way using just the front offset panel. These one-sided signs tie into the donor color scheme that is replicated inside the building and share both the information about the space and the importance of the donor involved.
In addition to these monument signs, there are many miscellaneous donor plaque signs, including flagpole signs, that were created on this project.
In March 2025, Arie Crown hosted its first event in the new facility for donors and community members. The event showcased the space’s transformation from a lackluster office building to a fun and inspiring school.
